The trees will be grey as long as you'll stay. I prayed yesterday, could you hear me anyway? You trace your fingers right down my spine. Cold breath reminds me that you are mine. Lick off your dagger, tighten your talons. Pick me up high by the skin of my back. Don't you feel sorry for bones when you drop me, lay me down softly in oceans of black. Blue air caress me, cold ground please kiss me. I fell in the snow and punched through a hole. Lick of your dagger, tighten your talons, leave me there flat on my back. My ribs must be showing I'm falling apart. Am I the same as I was at the start? I'll be a martyr, I'll starve for my art. Are we the same as we were at the start? Lick off your dagger, tighten your talons. Pick me up high by the skin of my back. Don't you feel sorry for bones when you drop me, lay me down softly in oceans of black. Blue air caress me, cold ground please kiss me. I fell in the snow and punched through a hole. Lick of your dagger, tighten your talons, leave me there.

Funeral procession moving slow through the undergrowth. Pick my casket up to shoulder height. Bow your heads low. Clutch your black skirt as the wind blows, howling through the stones. Cover me with leaves, make us a home, before winter steals my bones. Crush a flower with your heavy boot. Trample it under foot. Lungs of chimneys explode with smoke, bathing us all in soot. Have you seen the Mourning Cloak laying there by the roots? Hiding from the cold, never awoke, until it found you. Sing the songs of days long ago. Sing the familiar hymns. Sing of your woes.
3.
I saw you bathing by the hot springs. The sun looked pale against your skin. I stood fixed against a tree. The snow was beating down on me. You put your cloak around me, wipe my mouth when I bleed. If you ever leave you'll leave a hole. I bet you won't believe that I'd go first? I'll leave the hole and catch a hearse. Make a fire and wait for spring, but still the cold keeps creeping in. I guess I'd better swallow the blue. Guess I'd better spew out the truth: 'I ain't too worried about my wealth - 'cause I've got holes in my coat and I ain't doing much better myself."

SEASONS
Chapter 1: The Hare and the Hollow

Suddenly, through a crack, the light appears.
"Release! Freedom!" cry the patrons of the underbelly of Hades, expecting catharsis. But they receive only what they always receive: a hare, white as snow, with long ears and bravado. Oozing of enthusiasm, eager to prove his worth, naive and unaware of his surroundings.
"They sent me here, you know, the men up top. They sent me to help you poor fowl creatures to find the light. I was chosen!" the hare spatters eagerly.
"Is that so? The men up top?" one of the patrons, a morose tar-like creature replies mockingly. Hundreds of other shadowy figures burst out in laughter.
"They hand picked you from a pen, between your brothers and sisters, and sent you down here? To be our messiah, to save us from our wicked ways?" he continues.
"Well, yes, I suppose?" the hare says, suddenly doubting his initial choice of words. "I can take you back to the light, you don't have to stay here, you don't have to keep drinking the liquor in this fowl hole whilst mocking the men up top. I can save you!" the hare claims in a slightly hoarse but demanding voice.
"Won't work" the creature replies, shrugging off the hare's plea's.
"And why not?!" the hare demands, slamming his paw on the floor.
"Because" the creature says, pausing to make eye contact for the first time, his face covered in oozing black tar, and moves closer to the hare to whisper in his ear: "I used to be a little hare too."
The creatures turn back to their drinks, and the crack seals up again.

This first chapter was recorded, as Ruff Majik does, live and in only one take, not stopping for a break between songs but rather charging on through toward a triumph.

With some moments motoring at breakneck speed and other moments slowing down suddenly to whiplash inducing breaks, this is sure to be an album that keeps you on the edge of your seat. However, Ruff Majik doesn't forsake the bass heavy groove they are now known for, and this is used with fervor throughout.

Light up and enjoy.

( P.S. This is not a 3 track EP. It is part one of a 4 part album called Seasons, which will be released piece by piece at the change of the season, every season, over the coming months. Keep in mind that Ruff Majik is from South Africa, which is in the southern hemisphere.)
